PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  1. Review plans and specifications submitted by developers to assure that they are in compliance with the City development codes and ordinances.
  2. Engage in engineering research, prepare engineering reports, make computations, and make time and material estimates.
  3. Confer with and advise inspectors of construction projects and conduct inspections of projects during construction. Participate in reaching decisions as to necessary field changes.
  4. Perform investigative and public relations work related to engineering activities.
  5. Present reports to the Planning & Zoning Commission and City Council including preliminary plats, final plats, and other development related submittals.
  6. Work on special projects and reports.
  7. Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Engineer I

· Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering and four (4) to six (6) years of engineering experience or educational equivalent

· Professional Engineer License issued by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers, or the ability to obtain by reciprocity within six (6) months of date of hire

· Valid Texas Driver's License

 

Engineer II

· Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering and six (6) to eight (8) years of civil engineering experience

· Professional Engineer License issued by the Texas State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers, or the ability to obtain by reciprocity within six (6) months of date of hire

· Valid Texas Driver's License


Graduate Engineer I
Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering, Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of date of hire and Valid Texas Driver's License.

Graduate Engineer II
Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering and two (2) to four (4) years of civil engineering experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of date of hire and Valid Texas Driver License.

Preferred:
Experience in municipal government, Knowledge of industry standard computer programs (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, EPA SWMM, STORMCAD, Kentucky Pipe Network Analysis, Auto CAD, etc.), Management or supervisory experience and Public speaking experience.

DESCRIPTION:

Perform engineering work related to the review, construction, investigation, development, and design of engineering projects.

 

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:

Full Salary range: $52,370 - $84,054 based on candidate's experience, skills, education and certifications.
This position is also eligible for a departmental premium percentage in addition to the salary rate.
